Simon Barber

Simon Barber is a researcher and a member of the Centre for Media and Cultural Research at Birmingham City University. His research focuses primarily on the relationships between creative workers and industry. His published work has appeared in The Radio Journal, The Journal on the Art of Record Production, and the Jazz Research Journal among others. He has recently contributed chapters to The Cultural Politics of Jazz Collectives (Routledge) and The Cambridge Companion to the Singer-Songwriter, as well as a co-authored article on creative labour for a special issue of The European Journal of Cultural Studies. He is one half of the songwriting team Sodajerker and the producer and co-presenter of the popular iTunes podcast Sodajerker On Songwriting, which features interviews with some of the most successful songwriters in the world.
