Martial Arts Studies is edited by Paul Bowman and Benjamin Judkins.
Professor Paul Bowman researches, writes and teaches about cultural studies, popular culture, cultural theory, cultural politics, and martial arts at Cardiff University, UK. He has written multiple books on the cultural importance of Bruce Lee (including Theorizing Bruce Lee (Rodopi, 2010) and Beyond Bruce Lee (Wallflower, 2013). His most recent volume is Martial Arts Studies: disrupting disciplinary boundaries (Rowman and Littlefield International, 2015).
Benjamin Judkins earned a doctorate in Political Science from Columbia University. He has taught at the University of Utah and his research and teaching has focused on international relations and the political economy of globalization. In The Creation of Wing Chun: A Social History of the Southern Chinese Martial Arts (State University of New York Press, 2015) Judkins examines the various social, economic, political and cultural forces that helped to shape the emergence of southern China’s unique fighting systems during the tumultuous 19th and 20th century. He is also the editor of the blog Kung Fu Tea.
